How will artificial intelligence change the world of work? How can companies use new technologies to relieve their employees and also increase their competitiveness? How can changes in the world of work be shaped together? Answers to these questions are provided by our joint Competence Centre Arbeitswelt.Plus. With it, we want to establish ourselves nationwide as pioneers and trailblazers for artificial intelligence in the world of work.
Under a common motto “Humans. Industry. Tomorrow.”, 25 universities and companies from East Westphalia-Lippe are developing approaches for the introduction of artificial intelligence in the world of work together with the IG Metall trade union, for example with regard to workplace design and the qualification of employees. In eight lighthouse projects, research institutions and companies, in cooperation with trade union partners, are testing concrete solutions in which AI technologies are made available for different fields of application. The areas of people, technology and organisation are taken into account in equal measure.
To this end, we are pooling competences and experience from science and industry: the universities and Fraunhofer institutes are contributing excellent expertise in labour research and AI research. The participating companies from the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, food and manufacturing industry are pioneers and drivers for the human-centred integration of artificial intelligence into the working world of the future with the solutions they are striving for. Through the long-established transfer instruments of the technology cluster it’s OWL, we ensure a broad-based, effective transfer. In the Competence Centre Arbeitswelt.Plus, science and business thus work hand in hand for a successful, good and jointly designed introduction of artificial intelligence in the working world.
As a centre of excellence, we see ourselves as a regional information platform and as a network, initiator and driver on the topic of shaping the world of work against the background of artificial intelligence technologies. Our lighthouse projects are models for other companies and other scientific institutions. Our transfer activities activate central stakeholders and are a model for other clusters and regions. Finally, we make the experiences, solutions and competences of our partners transparent and available for small and medium-sized enterprises.
