This lightweight, high-accuracy titanium structure is initially produced by removing 90% by extensive milling. This product has successfully been transferred into a product realized through additive manufacturing. Our Partner, Norsk Titanium, manufactures a pre-shape made by Rapid Plasma Deposition (3D RPD) – a technology developed and qualified for aerospace, with strength equivalent to traditional forgings. In addition, this technology enables clean, fast and sustainable manufacturing and offers customers to significantly reduce raw materials and energy. The final shape and accuracy are realized by milling at Hittech.
Koen Mentink from our Hittech Bihca B.V. company and Odd Terje Lium from Norsk Titanium will give a 20-minute presentation on November 6th at the FMB Zuliefermesse Maschinenbau in Bad Salzuflen, explaining how they evolved from removing 180 kg of titanium chips to 20 kg carrier structures.
