Menzel Metallchemie GmbH was founded with the development of our first high-performance oil in 1989. Otto Menzel, our company founder, and until then a seller of mineral oils for many years, loaded his trunk full to the brim with oil canisters on Sunday evening and was on the road all week in the Federal Republic of Germany and also in the former GDR to get the oil to the man or woman.
However, he had always been tormented by the thought of what would happen in the worst case if an accident happened in a production facility and the oil got into the groundwater. Just one liter of this mineral oil would contaminate 1,000,000 liters of groundwater! The risk was simply too high that this could happen one day. And he was concerned with how to lubricate with biodegradable high-performance oils.
