SMELA GmbH, which was founded in August 2020 in the traditional mechanical engineering location of Magdeburg, develops, manufactures and sells innovative drive systems.
These intelligently combine electrical and mechanical components to form the most compact plug & play alternative to pneumatic cylinders, which are often used for short linear positioning processes in automated production systems.
Compared to conventional pneumatic systems, the specially developed liteECO® linear drives save more than 75% energy compared to pneumatic systems and up to 80% space compared to existing electrical solutions.
SMELA’s patented drives address applications for fixing, adjusting and following movement profiles. They represent a holistically optimized mechatronic system consisting of an electrical machine, the mechanics and integrated sensors. The telescoping arrangement allows the ram to be integrated without sacrificing engine performance and power. This results in a very favorable ratio of the travel path to the overall length and enables the most compact electrical alternative to pneumatics. They can be used for simple to complex mobility applications, for example in production lines, machine tools, logistics or even in household appliances. A smooth, sealed plunger can also be used in pharmaceutical and food sectors. The dynamic positioning as well as the simple and fast integration into the Industry 4.0 world are significant advantages. In addition to the compactness, the convenient advantages of the electric drives are retained without any compromises:
Compact installation length with configurable stroke lengths
High power density & speeds
Fast, easy commissioning
Integrated, high-resolution encoder system
Can be positioned and controlled with various motion controllers
Smooth sealed plunger
Long service life and additional possibility for refurbishment
Integrated anti-twist device if required
The new electromechanical linear actuator of the liteECO® BASE series, like its predecessor the LE48, solves all the disadvantages of pneumatic systems. In addition, the new series offers the degree of protection IP65 with and through a circular connector that leads power and sensor signals to the outside via a hybrid cable. In addition, a high-precision measuring system has been integrated into an even more compact space. This further improves the stroke/installation length ratio. The new series starts with a basic stroke length of 40 mm and can be scaled up to three digits depending on customer requirements.
